The lively and romantic comic opera Chunhyang’s Great Escape blends the grandeur of opera with the lightheartedness of musical theater and the dramatic power of stage play. Adapting familiar characters from a beloved Korean classic, the work reimagines their stories with a fresh, contemporary twist. This new-generation retelling of The Tale of Chunhyang infuses humor and wit throughout, offering audiences plenty of laughter. In particular, before the screening, mezzo-soprano Joo-Won Chae, currently pursuing her doctorate at USC, will provide commentary to enrich the audience’s understanding of the opera.
