It is now day 4 of Taekwondo story 101. So far, we have talked about basic etiquettes, history and basics techniques of Taekwondo. Today, we will be shifting our gear towards Poomsae “form” training in Taekwondo. Poomsae training is for self-training purpose and it is like taking a journey of training and understanding the meaning behind its philosophy. Therefore, every time you taking a journey of training, you must make a progress and it is how you get better each time.
1. Purposes of Poomsae training:
- Based on self-defense movements
- Korean philosophy (Neo-Confucianism, Self-perfection, Self-realization, Palgwe & black belt

- Repetition of movements building muscle memories & perseverance and resilience
- Moving meditation -? Unification of mind and body - Enlightenment
2. Basic Techniques of Poomsae
- Basic blocks with stances (long, short, back, and horse-back riding stances)
- Basic kicks for Poomsae (different from Kyorugi)
- Combination movements
- Demonstrate with beginners and advanced form
- Demonstrate of freestyle form
