The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles & The Independence Hall of Korea proudly present a special exhibition "In Commemoration of the March 1st Movement and the 100th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Korean Provisional Government" which will take place from March 8th to April 6th, 2019 at the Korean Cultural Center LA Art Gallery, located at 5505 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036.

The Korean Provisional Government was established in Shanghai, China, 100 years ago, on April 11th, 1919 inheriting the spirit of the March 1st Movement that proclaimed Korean people's strong will of independence from the Japanese colonial rule.

Korean immigrants in America organized patriotic activities in their communities to raise awareness and issued appeals for support from the U.S. government. They also contributed money to the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai yearning to take back their home country.

The special exhibition consists of a prologue, epilogue, and four main parts.

The first part features references related to the United States-Korea Treaty during the invasion of Japanese Imperialism. The second part features the independence movements led by Korean-Americans and the historic sites that are still preserved today. The third part shows the development process of the March 1st movement in 1919 in Korea and America. And lastly, the fourth part features the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai on April 11th, 1919 and all the related data of the independence movement groups' movements until Korea declared independence in Chongqing.

This special exhibition is dedicated to all Koreans and the Korean liberation movement patriots for their devotion to Korea for leaving a deep and lasting impact on the current society.

The exhibition is open to the public and the opening reception will be held on Friday, March 8th, 2019 at 6:00p.m. at the KCCLA 2nd floor art gallery. There will be a special lecture with Lee Jun Sik, the president of the Independence Hall of Korea from 6:00pm to 6:40pm (3rd Floor ARI Hall).
